Research projects:

•  Invention and Innovation: Hub and Spoke model to promote Invention and Innovation at academic institutions and rural communities.

•  Multinational Project on structure- based drug design for Chaga's Disease. One of the Principal Investigators.

•  Environmental Turfgrass management for athletic fields and urban landscaping in the humid tropics. A small turf research unit is established to study varietal performance, nutrition, irrigation, drainage, and pests.

•  Organization of Innovation, Invention and Entrepreneurship Fair EARTH. Annual Activity, over 5000 visitors.

•  Member of Organizing Committee for AIAEE congress en Costa Rica , 2008. Central Committee Members are: Dr. Pete Vergot, UF, Dr. Nick Place , UF, Lynn Jones, ( Iowa State ), and John Vreyens ( University of Minnesota )

•  Organizing Member for an “International Conference on Environmental Turfgrass Management for Golf Courses, Athletic Fields and Residential Landscapes”. EARTH University and UF.

•  Master Gardener Program at La FLor. EARTH–UF joint activity to promote Master Gardening Program to Communities near la FLOR.


  • Wingerts Consulting. 2002. Hired to help develop a plan for improving higher education system in agribusiness in Mozambique . Accompanied Stephen Wingert , a former USAID Director. A USAID Mozambique funded project.
  • Planning committee Member for EARTH-SALZBURG seminar series. 2000-2003. Helped develop programs for regional and global meetings to exchange ideas in the area of Education, Sustainability, and Management of Change in Asia and Africa . Participation in seminars in Africa, Asia and Europe .
  • Consultant Legislative Assembly, Costa Rica . 1999-2000. Agriculture Commission.
  • Member of external evaluation team for academic reform. National University , Costa Rica . 1997. Student population over 13,000.
  • Additives to improve soil structure under leather leaf fern plantation. Export crop for the US and European markets. Contracted by International Development Bank supported Project in Costa Rica . 1997. Annual exports over 65 million US$.

NATURAL ONE . Principal Investigator. 1997-2003. Soft drink from tropical fruits and flowers to help replace fluid and minerals lost during exercise and field works in the humid tropics. Principal Investigator.

2002- Present. Complex Growth medium for Beneficiary Microorganisms. A prototype product called SINMAX is in testing phase. This product promotes plant health.

AMINO-GEL : 2002-2005: Gel based technology for foliar fertilizers: testing Phase.

WATER–X . 2003-2006: Chelate–Based technology to treat hard water and improve chemical efficiency of fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides. In registration process.

SLOW-R. 2000-continued: Product based on naturally occurring organic compound based surface coatings for highly soluble fertilizers.
